AI visibility checker

From Search Visibility Wiki · By the · Published · Last reviewed · How we research

An AI visibility checker tests whether AI answer engines mention or cite your brand for relevant prompts. You can do it free: write 20–50 prompts, run them in each engine, and record mentions, position, citations and competitors. Automated checkers do the same on a schedule. Results are samples, so repeat runs.

How do you check AI visibility manually?

  1. List branded, category, problem and comparison prompts.
  2. Run each in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Mode.
  3. Record: mentioned (y/n), position, cited URL, competitors named.
  4. Repeat each prompt; answers vary.[1]
  5. Repeat monthly.

What first-party checks are free?

Search Console reports AI Overview and AI Mode data;[2] Bing Webmaster Tools reports Copilot citations.[3]

What do automated checkers add?

Scheduled sampling, more engines and competitor benchmarks; see AI SEO tools and AI visibility score.
