FAQ schema
FAQ schema (schema.org FAQPage) marks up question-and-answer content. Since August 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. The markup is still valid structured data and describes Q&A content clearly, but Google says no special schema is needed for AI features.
What changed in 2023?
Google announced in August 2023 that FAQ rich results would be shown only for well-known, authoritative government and health sites, and that HowTo rich results would be limited.[1]
Does FAQ schema help AI search?
Google: there is “no special schema.org structured data that you need to add” for AI features, though structured data should match visible text.[2] FAQ markup can still help any parser understand Q&A content.[3]
How do you add FAQ schema correctly?
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"FAQPage",
"mainEntity":[{"@type":"Question","name":"…",
"acceptedAnswer":{"@type":"Answer","text":"…"}}]}Questions and answers must be visible on the page.[4] Validate with the Schema Markup Validator.[5]
